Brother George C. Gunder is a native of Savannah, Georgia and a veteran of the United States Army, where he and his family served faithfully for 24 years (Go Army). Upon retiring in September of 2009, Brother Gunder moved his family from Fort Lewis, Washington to Annapolis, Maryland. Brother Gunder has a bachelor’s degree in Management Studies from University Maryland University College and earned his master’s degree in Public Administration from Ashford University.
Brother Gunder was initiated into Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc., Mu Rho Chapter in November of 2102. Since joining the Mu Rho Chapter Brother Gunder has worked diligently with members of the chapter, the community, and other Greek Organizations to uplift the citizens of Anne Arundel County. Brother Gunder is currently serving as the Social Action Committee Chair, the Mentoring Program Chair, and is the point of contact for the Mu Rho Adopt a School Project. Last year Brother Gunder and his family purchased toys for 107 kindergarteners at Mills-Parole Elementary School.
Brother Gunder is very passionate about helping others and has a heart for people that causes him to seek out opportunities to be a positive and productive contributor to his community. Additionally, Brother Gunder is actively involved with other activities and committees such as the Fatherhood Initiative, North Arundel Delta’s EMODI Mentoring program, quarterly Blood and Platelets Drives with the American Red Cross, Co-Chair for the 2017 New Year’s Gala, Clothing Drive for the Light House Shelter of Annapolis, and Toys for Tots.
Brother Gunder works for the Federal Aviation Administration as the Business Manager for Flight Service within the Air Traffic Organization. He’s responsible for finance and budgeting, staffing, and personnel action for employees in the lower 48 and Alaska. Brother Gunder is married to Shaunte’ Staten of Annapolis, they have three children Sergeant Shatara Tyler 30, Noelle 14, and Kye 13. They also have three grandchildren Araya 10, London 7, and CJ 3.
